“To the counselors of peace is joy… Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad” (Proverbs 12:20,25). “Ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope… For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words” (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).
There
is a comfort God imparts,
Which
Christ, our Counselor, makes known,
That
lifts the heaviest of hearts,
Since
He shall gather all His own.
We
sorrow not as others do
Who
do not know our mighty Friend.
The
fleeting things that they pursue
Provide
no comfort in the end.
From
heaven we shall hear the voice
Of
Christ descending with a shout.
How
greatly then shall we rejoice
With
those He changes and calls out!
We’ll
meet the Lord then in the air
When
we shall hear the trumpet blast.
We
shall rejoice that we are there
Forever
with the Lord at last.
This
comfort in God’s precious Word
Has
made us counselors of peace.
As
heads are lifted, hearts are stirred
With
promised joys that never cease!
O
Lord, Your comfort is so tender
Which
fills our hearts with confidence,
Since
You became our soul’s Defender
With
wounds displayed in our defense!
Lord,
send us with the Word You gave
To
comfort as Your counselors
And
reach the lost that You would save,
Sent
forth as Your ambassadors.
