“God... is called by the name of the LORD of hosts that dwelleth between the cherubim” (2 Samuel 6:2). “The LORD that made heaven and earth bless thee” (Psalm 134:3). “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that ye through His poverty might be rich… Wherefore shew ye… the proof of your love” (2 Corinthians 8:9,24).
Our
Lord left His heavenly splendor
Where
cherubim cover their face,
In
order to be our Defender
And
lavish upon us His grace.
The
Lord who made heaven and earth,
Exalted
above all creation,
Descended
to us by His birth
To
thereby procure our salvation.
For
our sakes our Lord became poor,
That
He might bestow His great wealth.
How
could He have given us more?
He
died to bestow saving health!
We
know the great grace of our Lord;
We
see it in all that He did.
His
life on the cross was outpoured;
The
proof of His love was not hid.
O
Lord, You have shown us the proof
Of
infinite love that You gave.
Our
hearts would proclaim from the roof
That
You, and no other, can save!
In
view, Lord, of grace You extended
When
You left Your glory above,
May
halfhearted living be ended,
Providing
the proof of our love!
