“The LORD hath sought Him a man after His own heart” (1 Samuel 13:14). “O how love I Thy law… therefore I hate every false way” (Psalm 119:97,104). “The LORD pondereth the hearts” (Proverbs 21:2). “Now to Him that is of power to establish you according to my gospel… by the Scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God… to God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ forever. Amen” (Romans 16:25-27).
The
Lord God has sought for a man
Pursuing
His own heart today.
Throughout
all the earth His eyes scan
Each
heart as He ponders its way.
He
ponders the things that we love,
Upon
which our hearts meditate.
He
looks on our hearts from above
To
ponder, as well, what we hate.
He
ponders our hearts every hour,
For
God neither slumbers nor sleeps,
Establishing
us with His power
By
each faithful promise He keeps.
He
ponders how we will pursue
The
truth in the Scriptures He’ll give
With
mercies each day that are new
Whereby
we abundantly live.
Let
this be the ultimate goal:
That
Christ may be rightly esteemed,
So
He may receive back in full
This
life which in love He redeemed!
O
Lord, as You ponder our heart,
Examining
each one’s pursuit,
We
pray for the grace You impart
That
we may be bearing much fruit.
To
You, Lord, be all of the glory
As
You are extending Your favor,
So
others may ponder the story
With
hearts in pursuit of a Savior.
