“Who is able to stand before this holy LORD God?” (1 Samuel 6:20). “Horror hath taken hold upon me because of the wicked that forsake Thy law” (Psalm 119:53). “Hell and destruction are before the LORD: how much more, then, the hearts of the children of men?” (Proverbs 15:11). “Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved… How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!” (Romans 10:13,15).
Our
God is holy! Who can stand
Before
His searching, holy eyes?
There
is a way that God has planned
Prepared
for those who will be wise.
True
wisdom starts with holy fear
Which
many foolishly forsake!
Those
seeking God as He is near
Avoid
eternity’s mistake.
The
psalmist thus expressed it well,
Regarding
those who won’t beware,
With
“horror” at the thought of hell,
Alarmed
at those who do not care.
The
lost may march without alarm
For
what awaits beyond the grave,
Yet
Christ has shown His holy arm;
There
is no other who can save.
The
Lord beholds eternal wrath
That
burns in hell forevermore.
He
came to be salvation’s path
By
dying for our sins He bore.
O
Lord, we cannot turn away
From
sorrow etched upon Your face,
Beholding
those who go astray,
Who
yet refuse Your saving grace!
Lord,
guide us on Your holy path;
Equip
us with Your Spirit’s sword
To
show the horror of Your wrath
Yet
grace for those who trust You, Lord.
