Openly Observed

“O sing unto the LORD a new song; for He hath done marvelous things: His right hand, and His holy arm, hath gotten Him the victory.  The LORD hath made known His salvation: His righteousness hath He openly shewed in the sight of the heathen.  He hath remembered His mercy and His truth… all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God” (Psalm 98:1-3). 

The Lord has said what He would do

And then performed it with perfection.
That’s why the foes of Jesus knew
The promise of His resurrection!  

There’s certain things one can’t erase,

Like great events in history,
And so it is with joy we trace
Our Savior’s mighty victory! 

We do not speak of secret things

As we recount our Lord’s report,
But that which observation brings,
Which honesty will not distort.

For centuries the prophets wrote

Of things regarding Christ’s salvation,  
And now historians take note,
As this is shown to every nation.

We date our calendar today

By ONE and only ONE event:
With “Anno Domini” we say
This is the year our Lord was sent.

It’s not by mere coincidence

That in all nations this is shown.
It’s MORE prophetic evidence:
God said He’d make salvation known! 

There’s no excuse with valid reason

For now denying what Christ did.
These things were all done in their season,
And openly; not one was hid.

O Lord, we thank You that You show

Your Word fulfilled which You foretold!
You’ve made us free by truth we know:
It is the Gospel that we hold!
