The
blessings on Byron, my father-in-law,
Still
flow from the mem’ry that God has preserved. He stood in the presence of God with such awe,
And love for his Lord was the reason he served.
The
years since his passing this day number twenty:
The
day he departed was not without tears, But blessings continue, and oh, they are plenty;
His mem’ry is blessed, undiminished by years.
Though
sermons abound to inspire our hearts
To
love the Lord Jesus, forsaking distraction, The mem’ry of Byron today still imparts
Examples of love that were put into action.
The
call to surrender our life comes from Christ;
The
life we hold back is the life that we lose. The life that we gain is the one sacrificed,
And God pays attention to which one we choose.
The
ultimate mem’ry, of course, that is blest
Is
found in recalling our wonderful Savior.
In His saving love we both labor and rest,
Amazed by the grace that extends us His favor!
The
beauty of Christ in the Scriptures portrayed
Called
Byron to worship by what he had heard. He pondered the price that our Lord Jesus paid,
He lived for His glory, and treasured His Word.
This
poem is a tribute to God’s great salvation
Expressed
in a man whom He graciously sent To model a humble and sweet dedication
Which taught me so clearly what true worship meant.
Lord,
thank You for Byron, for mem’ries we treasure,
And
for the reunion we’re looking toward To gather around You together with pleasure,
For so shall we ever then be with You, Lord!
