“It is time for Thee, LORD, to work: for they have made void Thy law”
(Psalm 119:126). “Boast not thyself of
tomorrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth… Be thou diligent to
know the state of thy flocks” (Proverbs 27:1,23). “A wise man's heart discerneth both time and
judgment” (Ecclesiastes 8:5). “Whether
therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God” (1
Corinthians 10:31).
There
is a tension in the air
That
God would have us each discern:
As
hearts are plunging in despair,
God’s
Spirit calls them now to turn.
The
time has surely come today
That
diligence should be employed
In
working as we watch and pray,
Defending
truth that men make void.
We
see the darkness growing great
As
falsehood blinds so many eyes,
As
lawlessness is fueled by hate,
And
fools profess that they are wise.
The
time is late as we are urged
To
guard the sheep within our folds.
Let
our presumption now be purged
That
boasts of what tomorrow holds.
A
wise man’s heart discerns the time
And
sees God’s judgment drawing near.
As
godlessness unleashes crime,
We
need to make the Gospel clear!
So
let the dreamer tell his dreams,
That
fools alike today applaud,
As
we declare that Christ redeems
The
souls who yet will turn to God!
There
is an ending to the story
Of
God’s great purposes for man.
The
time is NOW to give Him glory
And
to proclaim redemption’s plan.
Lord,
thank You for this comprehension
Of
truth that You convey by grace.
We’re
living in a time of tension
When
people need a Hiding Place.
O
Lord, this opportunity
Is
closing which You now ordain.
As
we approach eternity,
Lord,
help us make the Gospel plain.
