Now vs. Never

“NOW know I that the LORD saveth His anointed; He will hear him from His holy heaven with the saving strength of His right hand” (Psalm 20:6).  “Hear Me NOW therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of My mouth… lest thou give thine honor unto others, and thy years unto the cruel” (Proverbs 5:7-9).  “NOW… The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.  NOW… Come ye after Me, and I will make you to become fishers of men” (Mark 1:14-17). 

NOW is a moment the prudent discerns;

It comes yet refuses to stay.

NOW passes by us and never returns

And scorns us for foolish delay.

NOW is the time that we ought to be saved;

There’s no guarantee of tomorrow.

NOW will reward those who wisely behaved,

But fools will be punished with sorrow.

NOW God is giving to us His instruction,

That we may live under His rule.

NOW we should turn from this world’s seduction,

Lest we give our years to the cruel.

NOW is the time to repent and believe

The Gospel that offers salvation.

NOW God is calling for us to receive

His Son for our justification!

NOW is the time we may heed our Lord’s call

To follow Him, seeking the lost.

NOW is the time to surrender our all

And never regret what it cost.

Lord, we give thanks for each “NOW” that You give

With grace for our every endeavor,

Investing each moment on earth that we live

In treasures enduring for forever!
