Heaven's Heralds

“The heavens declare the glory of God… Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world… He telleth the number of the stars; He calleth them all by their names.” (Psalm 19:1,4, 147:4).  “Canst thou bind the sweet influences of PLEIADES, or loose the bands of ORION?  Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth (i.e., the constellations) in his season? Or canst thou guide ARCTURUS with his sons?” (Job 38:31,32).  “All power is given unto Me in heaven and in earth.  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations… teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen” (Matthew 28:18-20).

The heavens continue to boldly declare

The glory of God on its canvas of space.

The Lord has assigned every star that is there

With names that still herald His glory and grace.

He spoke, and the stars by His power were hurled

Throughout the vast heavens with names He assigned.

Their words have gone out to the end of the world;

Through all of the earth is their message aligned.

OF COURSE, we’d expect that the devil would lie,

Distorting their message as soon as he could,

Perverting the Gospel upon the night sky

To lead souls astray from the way that was good.

The Scriptures declare, as the stars surely did,

The way of redemption through God’s promised Seed.

So why should their message be carelessly hid?

The Bible interprets these star names we read!

The Seed of the Virgin would come as foretold,

As Spica and Virgo display in the night.  

Arcturus, Pleiades, Orion, unfold:

“He comes with His host, coming forth as the light.”

Are these heaven’s heralds?  Most surely they are!

Yet Christ now commands us to go to each nation,

Declaring His glory, as does every star,

With words that convey His amazing salvation.

O Lord, we are stewards of Your precious Word,

Which You have commanded us clearly to teach.

Uphold us till all of the nations have heard

The Gospel which we are commissioned to preach.
