Upward Understanding

"My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto Thee, and will look up" (Psalm 5:3). "Come, eat of My bread.... and go in the way of understanding" (Proverbs 9:5,6). "O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!.... For of Him, and through Him, and to Him are all things: to whom be glory forever. Amen" (Romans 11:33-36).

There is a place where we can look
To give us understanding.
It's not the latest "How-To" book
That readers are demanding.

It is the upward look to God
That gives a right perspective,
For every other view is flawed,
Unholy, and deceptive.

We need to see God's awesome hand
Which orchestrates all things,
That we may rightly understand
He's still the King of kings.

The upward look to God each morning
Before the day begins,
Provides us counsel, wisdom, warning,
And cleansing from our sins.

We thank You, Lord, that as we pray
To You and we look up,
We understand more everyday
As with You, Lord, we sup.
