"Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly... but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law doth he meditate day and night" (Psalm 1:1,2). "The ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and He pondereth all his goings" (Proverbs 5:21). "He that... searcheth the hearts.... spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all" (Romans 8:26-32).
It certainly seems logical
To fix our meditation
On God who is so wonderful,
The Lord of all creation.
But viewing, on the other hand,
The gracious thoughts of God
On us are hard to understand,
So mercifully odd!
For why should God in us delight,
In view of who we are?
Now shouldn't sinners in His sight
Be thrust from Him afar?
O Lord, we thank You for Your love
That thought on with grace
And sent our Savior from above
To take the sinner's place!
