"Thy name, O Lord, endureth forever, and Thy memorial, O Lord, throughout all generations" (Psalm 135:13).
How great are Your memorials
We see, Lord, everywhere:
Creation's editorials
Your attributes declare!
Beyond our finite comprehension
Of things that You have made,
Creation calls to our attention
Your majesty displayed.
And yet there is another place
Where You display Your name:
That great memorial of Your grace,
Where Jesus bore our shame.
The cross commemorates Your love
Through every generation;
You set aside Your throne above
To die for our salvation.
You are alive forevermore,
Yet Your memorial stands
In marks of love Your body bore:
Your wounded feet and hands.
