"The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God.... He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moved.... He hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten: He hideth His face; He will never see it.... He hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require it.... Lord, Thou hast heard the desire of the humble: Thou wilt prepare their heart; Thou wilt cause Thine ear to hear" (Psalm 10:4-17).
Our God can hear the heart of pride
Engage in conversation;
He sees the hubris there inside,
Rejecting His salvation.
This hubris has a twisted view
That thinks God hides His face,
Rejecting counsel that is true
And thus refusing grace.
But God beholds humility
That draws the sinner near,
Who prays in his sincerity
And with a godly fear.
Hubris or humility?
The choice is ours to make.
The welfare for eternity
Of souls is now at stake.
