"For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that ye through His poverty might be rich" (2 Corinthians 8:9).
How vastly great the distance was
From heaven's throne down to the cross
That grace would travel, all because
Our Lord would save our souls from loss.
How great was the abundant grace
That left behind that wealth above
And brought our Lord down to the place
Where He could lift us by His love.
How great was grace that stooped to save
And called us out of poverty!
How great the riches are He gave,
Obtained for us at Calvary!
How great His grace is now indeed,
That calls us each to live for Him,
That meets abundantly our need,
And fills our cup beyond the brim!
Knowing now the grace of Christ,
That He for sinners was made poor
And for our souls was sacrificed,
Let us praise and thank Him more!
