"For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty.... But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance" (Galatians 5:13,22).
We have the liberty and root
That comes from God above
By which we have the Spirit's fruit:
The first of these is love.
We have the joy and peace He gives,
Longsuffering, gentleness,
With goodness and the faith He lives
Eternally to bless.
Meekness is that humble trait,
Surrendering the soul,
And temperance on the Lord will wait,
Displaying self control.
Thank You, Lord, for liberty
To bear much fruit for You,
To show the truth that makes us free,
Because Your Word is true.
