"And he [Moses] poured of the anointing oil upon Aaron's head, and anointed him, to sanctify him" (Leviticus 8:12). "Sacrifice and offering Thou didst not desire; Mine ears hast Thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast Thou not required. Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of Me" (Psalm 40:6,7). "God, who... spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by His Son... who... by Himself purged our sins" (Hebrews 1:1 -3).
When Moses
charged the congregation
To gather as the
Lord appointed,
They saw a
portrait of salvation
In Aaron when he
was anointed.
In offerings
that were sacrificed,
Our purging also
was portrayed,
But only our
Lord Jesus Christ
Could bring the
ransom that He paid.
Prophetic
portraits that God gave
Are now eclipsed
by God the Son,
Who died for
those He came to save
And rose to show
His work is done.
O Lord, the
portraits of our purging
Are shadows that
portray Your grace.
We plead with
those whom You are urging
To find in You
their Hiding Place.
