Faithful Fire

"The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out" (Leviticus 6:13).  "For in Thee, O LORD, do I hope... O Lord my salvation" (Psalm 38:15,22).  "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart... for the LORD shall be thy confidence" (Proverbs 3:5,26).  "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost, which He shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior" (Titus 3:5,6). 

The fire shall ever be burning

On altars of love for our Lord,

As daily to Christ we're returning, 

And thereby our soul is restored. 

The Lord is our Hope of salvation

With proof that removes every doubt. 

The flame of our heart's dedication

With first love should never go out. 

It's not by the works we have done

We're saved and are now set apart,

But Christ to our rescue has run 

And kindled this flame in our heart. 

Revive us, O Lord, with desire

That burns on the altar of love,

Ignited by Your faithful fire

Through Your intercession above.
