Continually Content

"The goodness of God endureth continually... I trust in the mercy of God forever and ever" (Psalm 52:1,8).  "A Friend loveth at all times, and a Brother is born for adversity" (Proverbs 17:17).  "Be content with such things as ye have: for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee... Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever... By Him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His name " (Hebrews 13:5,8,15).  

Though evil yet extends its range

Beyond the bounds we ever knew, 

Our God is good and does not change,

Continually remaining true. 

Though friends depart in stormy weather,

We have a Friend on heaven's throne,

And He has said that He will never

Forsake or leave our souls alone. 

From everlasting Jesus came

To bear adversity for us;

Our Lord was born to bear our shame

That we might always in Him trust. 

Lord, even in the struggles sent,

Continually, You give us reason

To offer praise and rest content

In every circumstance and season.
