"On that day shall the priest make an atonement for you, to cleanse you, that ye may be clean from all your sins before the LORD" (Leviticus 16:30). "We have thought of Thy lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of Thy temple" (Psalm 48:9). "The ransom of a man's life are his riches" (Proverbs 13:8). "But Christ being come an High Priest of good things to come... by His own blood... entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us" (Hebrews 9:11,12).
How
precious is the Priest who came
To
give Himself and thus atone
For
all our sins, our guilt, and shame
As
no one could but Christ alone!
The
tabernacle-temple scenes
Repeat
the yearly sacrifice,
But
Jesus Christ forever cleans
Our
souls by His redemptive price.
What
love it was that brought Him down
To
pay our ransom on the cross,
To
give to us salvation's crown,
And
purge away our sin as dross!
O
Lord, our Precious Priest, we come
To
praise You with the saints above!
You
paid redemption's awful sum,
Compelled
by Your amazing love!
