Consequence of Confidence

"It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man… The LORD is my Strength and Song, and is become my Salvation" (Psalm 118:8,14).  "If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it" (Proverbs 9:10,12).  "Some men's sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after.  Likewise also the good works of some are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be hid" (1 Timothy 5:24,25).

It's better to have confidence
In God our Savior than in man.
There is a fatal consequence
For sinners who will scorn God's plan.

The wise will look beyond the grave,
Considering their destination,
And call upon the Lord who gave
Himself to purchase their salvation.

The foolish will continue scorning
Until at last their time is spent
As they refuse to heed God's warning
To seek the Lord and to repent.

The consequence shall not be hid,
O Lord, when confidence is through,
As souls remember what they did
When they were called to trust in You.
