"The wicked are… like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear, which will not hearken to the voice of charmers, charming never so wisely" (Psalm 58:3-5). "The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom" (Proverbs 10:21). "Now we have received… the Spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God, which things also we speak… But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God… because they are spiritually discerned" (1 Corinthians 2:12-14).
The
illustration of a snake
That
stops her ear from being charmed
Portrays
the choice that sinners make,
Refusing
warning, unalarmed.
The
fool who thus will stop his ear
Shall
have no wisdom then to speak,
But
those who trust the Lord shall hear
And
find in Christ the truth they seek.
The
Spirit of the Lord imparts
The
wisdom God shall freely give
To
those who give to Him their hearts,
That
they may for His glory live.
Lord,
we delight to hear Your voice
As
we are charmed by saving grace.
We
praise and thank You for the choice
To
find You when we sought Your face.
