"David said… I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said… The LORD also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die" (2 Samuel 12:13). "The LORD hath spoken… To him that ordereth his conversation aright will I show the salvation of God" (Psalm 50:1,23). "The LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding" (Proverbs 2:6). "But they have not all obeyed the Gospel… So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God" (Romans 10:16,17).
When
David had confessed his sin,
As
God, by Nathan, then had spoken,
His
heart, which had been searched within,
Was
thus exposed, contrite, and broken.
The
Lord had put his sin away,
For
Christ would show him His salvation.
What
gracious words we hear God say
To
those deserving condemnation!
Our
God has spoken by His Word
The
truth His prophets have conveyed:
This
is the Gospel we have heard,
But
many still have not obeyed.
Lord,
thank You for salvation shown
To
sinners who will seek Your face
And
hear the Word of God made known:
The
Gospel of Your saving grace.
