"What nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon Him for?" (Deuteronomy 4:7). "Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savor, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid… Let your light so shine before men… that they may… glorify your Father which is in heaven" (Matthew 5:13-16).
What
nation has there been so great,
Within
these latter centuries,
With
nearness that we celebrate
To God who gave our liberties?
America,
the privileged land,
The
city set upon a hill,
Has
now your salt become so bland
That
you have set aside God's will?
Have
you forgotten God at last
Who
gave such greatness by His favor?
Will
not you contemplate your past
And
turn again to Christ the Savior?
O
Lord, the nearness of our nation
Is
fading like a memory.
Revive
us with Your great salvation
To
be a light for all to see!
