"Thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might" (Deuteronomy 6:5). "I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes… it shall not cleave to me" (Psalm 101:3). "The ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and He pondereth all his goings… he shall be holden with the cords of his sins" (Proverbs 5:21,22). "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you" (Matthew 7:7).
The great command to love the Lord
With all our heart, and soul, and might
Shall sever every sinful cord,
Removing evil from our sight.
The sinful ways that we despise
Are cords that bind the soul with lust,
Yet we may cast them from our eyes
As in the Lord we place our trust.
Herein is liberating love
That makes us truly free at last,
That sets our hearts on things above,
And breaks the cords that held us fast.
Lord, for Your love to liberate
And for Your love that will constrain,
We ask, we seek, we knock, and wait,
Since You have said it's not in vain.
