Focus First

"Ye shall observe to do therefore as the LORD your God hath commanded you: ye shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left" (Deuteronomy 5:32).  "Know ye that the LORD He is God; it is He that hath made us, and not we ourselves" (Psalm 100:3).  "Keep thy heart with all diligence… Turn not to the right hand nor to the left" (Proverbs 4:23,27).  "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33). 

It's good to focus everyday

On what the Lord has said is true,

To guide our feet into His way

And do what He commands to do. 

We focus on the obvious:

The Lord is God, and we have found 

That it is He who has made us,

And not the other way around! 

The Word of God gives confidence,

As on His path He gives us light,

To keep our heart with diligence

And turn not to the left or right. 

Lord, thank You for the peace it brings  

To focus on what You will bless,  

As we are seeking first these things: 

Your kingdom and Your righteousness.
