Heaven's Highway

"Fear thy God... Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart... but thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself: I am the LORD" (Leviticus 19:14-18).  "Create in me a clean heart, O God" (Psalm 51:10).  "By the fear of the LORD men depart from evil... The highway of the upright is to depart from evil" (Proverbs 16:6,17).  "Let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross" (Hebrews 12:1,2). 

There is a highway that is clear

That heaven marks with Christ-like love,

That purges hate through godly fear,

And sets our heart on things above.   

This is the path that cleanses hearts,

As God directs our steps aright. 

This is the highway that departs

From evil, walking in His sight.

We run with patience on this path

Till we see Jesus face to face   

Who died to save our souls from wrath

And lives to lead us by His grace. 

O Lord, we look to You alone

On heaven's highway as You lead

To bring us safely to Your throne

With grace to help in time of need.
