"They waited not for His counsel: but lusted exceedingly in the wilderness... And He gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul" (Psalm 106:13-15). "Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil" (Proverbs 3:7). "The prophets prophesy falsely... and My people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?" (Jeremiah 5:31). " Wherefore also we pray always for you, that... the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you" (2 Thessalonians 1:11,12).
Upon
the Lord we wisely wait
For
counsel that we rightly trust.
There
is a counsel we should hate
That
flows selfish, sinful lust.
It
is our wisdom to depart
From
evil as we look to Christ.
It
is not wise to trust our heart
As
if our wisdom has sufficed.
We
hear the counsel of the fools
Who
teach the things they do not know
With
godless teaching in our schools
By
those who love to have it so.
O
Lord, we lift our eyes and pray:
Come,
search our hearts and take control,
Replacing
falsehood in our way
That
lusts for leanness in the soul.
