The altar for the sacrifice
To cover sin was made of brass.
Its untold weight portrays sin's price;
Beyond all measure it must pass!
The weight of brass could not be found,
So how much more unsearchable
Was all the wrath that did abound
Upon our Lord to save our soul!
How many willfully ignore
The horrifying weight of wrath
Which Christ in mercy for us bore
To lead us in salvation's path!
The sinners who refuse to turn
To Christ who died upon the cross,
Shall know the weight of wrath they spurn
When they endure eternal loss.
Our Savior on His judgment throne
Shall scatter evil with His eyes.
The wrath of God shall then be shown
On those refusing to be wise.
We see this truth in Revelation
When plagues are brought to their extremes,
Yet even in such tribulation,
The rebel, even then, blasphemes!
Lord, all our sins were laid on You;
You bore the wrath of untold weight!
There's nothing more that You could do
For souls requiting love with hate.
In view, Lord, of the consequence
Of wrath You weigh on holy scales,
We thank You that when one repents
Your grace that saves the lost prevails!
