"David the king said unto all the congregation... the work is great: for the palace is not for man, but for the LORD God... And who then is willing to consecrate his service this day unto the LORD?... Then the people rejoiced, for that they offered willingly, because with perfect heart they offered willingly to the LORD: and David the king also rejoiced with great joy" (1 Chronicles 29:1-9).
King
David earnestly prepared
Materials for Solomon
To
build the temple God declared
Would
be erected by his son.
Then
David called the congregation
Before
the temple was erected,
To
stir a willing consecration
Of
hearts which were by God perfected.
The
congregation made their choice
To
offer willingly their hearts
To
build the temple, and rejoice
As
everyone fulfilled their parts.
And
who is willing in our day
To
consecrate their service too?
The
Lord is pondering our way
And
searches for a heart that's true.
As
David said, "The work is great."
Yet
how much more is this the case
To
prompt us now to consecrate
Our
hearts to serve the Lord with grace.
Today
we see God's temple plan
To
rescue souls at any cost.
This
palace isn't built for man,
But
for our Lord, who saves the lost.
Lord,
consecrate our hearts with love,
Since
for our blessing, You were cursed!
On
earth and evermore above,
We'll
love You, since You loved us first.
Lord,
consecrated now with favor
As
Your own congregation here,
We
show the lost there is a Savior,
And
thereby make Your Gospel clear.
