Prophetic Proof

“They pierced My hands and My feet.  I may tell all My bones: they look and stare upon Me.  They part My garments among them, and cast lots upon My vesture… I will declare Thy name unto My brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise Thee... They shall come, and shall declare His righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that He hath done this” (Psalm 22:16-31).  “They shall smite the Judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.  But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto Me that is to be Ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting… for now shall He be great unto the ends of the earth.  And this Man shall be the Peace” (Micah 5:1-5).  “This I confess unto thee… believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets” (Acts 24:14).

Behold the prophecies God proved:
They pierced our Savior’s hands and feet!
They looked upon Him, still unmoved,
Until His sorrows were complete.

They parted all His garments then,
And soldiers gambled for His clothes.
He came to die for sinful men,
And as He promised, then arose!

Upon that day of resurrection
His Father’s name was thus declared
To brethren!  O the sweet perfection
In sinners by salvation spared!

These fellow brethren of our Savior,
Like us, were sinners who were cursed,
Yet with them we proclaim His favor:
We love our Lord who loved us first!

We find in Micah’s prophecy
Our Lord was smitten by a rod.
Through Bethlehem’s nativity,
He came as Man, yet truly God!

Our praise to Him shall never cease
As we recall His lowly birth.
For this Man truly is our Peace;
His name is great through all the earth!

So this is what we now confess:
The Word made flesh in Bethlehem
Has come to earth that He might bless
The souls that justice would condemn.

Now all who come to Jesus Christ
Shall have the peace that He procured.
The Lamb of God was sacrificed,
Thus proving His prophetic Word!

O Lord, we thank You for the proof
In prophecies that You have shown.
Though fools now choose to stand aloof,
They will not do so at Your throne.

We hold this treasure in our hand,
O Lord, of evidence You gave,
As prophecies we understand
Support the faith through which You save.

To souls in danger of perdition
We take prophetic proofs we claim,
Obeying, Lord, Your great commission,
To preach the Gospel in Your name.
