King's Kindness

“Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD?  Or who shall stand in His holy place?  He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up His soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.  He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of His salvation… He is the King of glory” (Psalm 24:3-10).  “Who is a God like unto Thee, that pardoneth iniquity?… He will subdue our iniquities; and Thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea” (Micah 7:18,19).  “I have appeared unto thee for this purpose... to open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in Me” (Acts 26:16-18).

The King of glory has ascended
And stands now in the holy place
To justify those He defended
Upon the cross to grant them grace!

His heart, His soul, and hands are pure,
And no deceit is in Him found.
Yet He was willing to endure
The cross to make His grace abound.

Behold the blessing He received
With righteousness procured us
Which we obtain who have believed:
Is not His kindness marvelous?

Not one of us were qualified
To come before the Lord and stand.
Because the King of glory died,
He met for us the Law’s demand!

There’s no one else so kind as God
Who pardons sin at His expense!
The awful judgment of His rod
Was borne by Christ in our defense!

Removing our iniquity
As far as east is from the west,
He casts our sins into the sea,
And by His mercy we are blest!

Now for this purpose we are sent
To show the kindness of our King,
To bid the sinner to repent
Beneath the shelter of His wing.

Lord, send us now to open eyes
As those in darkness turn to light,
To know the truth that makes one wise,
And turn from Satan by Your might.

Lord, send us forth to show Your kindness
That souls may find Your great salvation,
As You give sight to those with blindness
Who thereby flee from condemnation.

O keep our vision undiminished
Of what it cost You, Lord, to win
The battle on the cross You finished
To justly pardon us from sin!
