How
great is the goodness of Christ
Displayed
in His wondrous salvation! For us was our Lord sacrificed,
Though we had deserved condemnation!
He
hides those who trust His name;
He
shelters their souls from all harm!His goodness replaced all our shame;
His peace has replaced our alarm.
How
great is His marvelous kindness
To
sinners for whom He has died! How stubborn today is the blindness
Of those who have no place to hide!
Consider
our hopeless condition:
As
ungodly sinners we waited For death that would seal perdition,
Condemned as the Law clearly stated!
Consider
the sinner’s best Friend:
He
loved us when we were His foes! It cost Him His life in the end,
And then, as our Captain, He rose!
How
great was His goodness that smiled
On
us yet deserving His frown. For we, by our sins, were defiled,
But Jesus still laid His life down!
How
dreadful, O Lord, is the scorn
Of
sinners who mock what is true! O help us to earnestly warn
These souls to find refuge in You!
O
Lord, we give thanks for Your grace
That
demonstrates infinite love, As You have reserved us a place
To dwell in Your presence above!
How
great is Your goodness, O Lord!
O
help us convey to the lost The price for these blessings outpoured:
Your life was laid down for the cost!
