"Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an HOLY PRIESTHOOD, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. Unto you, therefore, which believe, He is precious.... Ye are a chosen generation, a ROYAL PRIESTHOOD, an holy nation, a peculiar people, that ye should show forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light" (1 Peter 2:5-9).
The Lord ordains us each a priest
When we have put our trust in Christ.
There is no sacrificial beast
Nor blood on altars sacrificed.
We are a holy priesthood now
To offer praise and adoration.
Before our precious Lord we bow
To thank Him for so great salvation.
We are a royal priesthood too
Ordained to show our Savior's praise,
Declaring what we know is true:
The Gospel light His Word displays.
Our privileges are great indeed,
And so our duties are as well,
To shine the light that others need
To show them their escape from hell.
O Lord, You've granted us this place
As priests, who once were lost in sin.
So may we minister Your grace
That saves the souls that You would win.
