The
Lord has been for us a Shield;
He
is our Glory and Salvation,
The
First Fruit of the harvest field
Who
rescued us from condemnation.
We
echo what the Greeks once said:
"We
would see Jesus!" nothing more.
He
is the Lifter of our head,
The
only One whom we adore.
The
time had come for Jesus then
To
suffer and be glorified;
A
corn of wheat bears much fruit when
Its
Seed is planted and has died.
O
Lord, this portrait that You gave
Displays
Your triumph in the strife:
You
are the Seed who died to save
The
souls who gain eternal life!
