Direction of our Desire

"I have inclined mine heart to perform Thy statutes always, even unto the end" (Psalm 119:112).  "When the desire cometh, it is a tree of life… The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death… The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul" (Proverbs 13:12,14,19).  "The heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll… Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read" (Isaiah 34:4,16).  "Now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life" (Romans 6:22 ). 

As evidence of our salvation,

There is a change of our desire.

We have a holy inclination

From God to set affections higher. 

We have a tree of life within,

A fountain springing in our soul,

That calls us to depart from sin

And live for Christ, our highest goal. 

When earth and heaven shall be finished,

As all God's judgments have an end,

Our love for Christ won't be diminished,

But grow the more we comprehend! 

Lord, thank You for this new direction

Of our desire You impart

With fruit You're bringing to perfection

By Your dominion in our heart.
