"Aaron shall bear their names before the LORD upon his two shoulders for a memorial... and Aaron shall bear the names of the children of Israel in the breastplate of judgment upon his heart, when he goeth in unto the holy place, for a memorial before the LORD continually" (Exodus 28:12,29). "We will remember the name of the LORD our God" (Psalm 20:7). "The Lord make you to increase... to the end He may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God" (1 Thessalonians 3:12,13).
As
Aaron bore each tribal name
Upon
his shoulders and his heart,
Our
Savior bore our sin and shame
With
grace and truth He would impart.
These
tokens which portrayed such favor
In
Aaron's garments thus sufficed
To
be memorials of our Savior,
Who
for our sakes was sacrificed.
We
shall remember Christ our Lord
By
wounds the spear and nails made,
Memorials
that shall afford
Remembrance
of the price He paid.
O
Lord, our great High Priest divine,
Memorials
so marvelous
Are
now displayed in bread and wine
As
we recall You died for us.
