Purified from Pride

"LORD, who shall abide in Thy tabernacle?... He that... speaketh the truth in his heart" (Psalm 15:1,2).  "By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and... pureness of heart" (Proverbs 22:4,11).  "The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that Thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed... When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said... Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel" (Matthew 8:8-10).

Our fellowship is with the Lord
Who fills our hearts with truth and grace.
Because our Savior is adored,
Our pride is ushered from this place.

We see the love of God displayed
As we are occupied with Christ.
We contemplate the price He paid
When He for us was sacrificed.

As we have thought on Christ our Savior,
We echo the centurion:
We are not worthy of His favor;
We are amazed at what He's done!

O Lord, our hearts are purified,
As we have fixed our faith on You,
From vain distraction and from pride
With Your humility in view.
