“Thus saith the Lord… Because thine heart was tender, and thou hast humbled thyself before the LORD… and wept before Me, I also have heard thee, saith the LORD” (2 Kings 22:16-19). “God is our Refuge and Strength, a very present Help in trouble... Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:1,10). “He heareth the prayer of the righteous” (Proverbs 15:29). “Abraham believed God… and he was called the friend of God” (James 2:23).
When
King Josiah heard God’s Word,
His
heart was humbled and was tender.
His
urgent prayer with tears was heard
By
God, his Refuge and Defender.
Be
very sure our Savior hears;
Let
every doubt be chased away.
Be
still and know He sees the tears
And
hears the faintest prayer we pray.
Be
still and know that He is God:
Should
not our fears be therefore halted?
Be
sure His promise is not flawed:
In
all the earth He’ll be exalted!
The
Lord shall surely hear the prayers
Of
those who trust Him as their Savior.
Indeed,
we’re called to cast our cares
On
Him who will bestow His favor.
He
hears! Believe it to the end
As
Abraham who thus obeyed,
And
he was therefore called God’s friend;
He
knew God heard him when he prayed.
O
Lord, we thank You that You heard
The
cry we lifted for salvation!
We
trusted in Your faithful Word
And
thus were saved from condemnation!
Lord,
help us daily make it clear,
To
those need Your saving grace,
That
You are waiting yet to hear
The
sinner who will seek Your face.
