“And the LORD looked upon him [Gideon], and said, Go in this thy might… have not I sent thee?” (Judges 6:14). “Serve the LORD with gladness” (Psalm 110:2). “Man's goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?” (Proverbs 20:24). “As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate Me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them” (Acts 13:2).
The
Lord appointed Gideon
To
boldly “Go in this thy might.”
The
Lord will give us strength to run,
And
He will show us what is right.
His
calling comes to us as well
To
serve the Lord with gladness here.
Has
not He ransomed us from hell
And
rescued us from every fear?
A
man shall never understand
The
plan and purpose of God’s way
Unless
he heeds the Lord’s command
And
is committed to obey.
We
see this principle displayed
As
God confirmed His Spirit’s call
Among
His people when they prayed,
Appointing
Barnabas and Saul.
The
missionary journeys then
Were
launched by God’s own confirmation,
Which
God entrusted to the men
Sent
forth proclaiming His salvation.
We
know by our experience
The
way our calling may is discerned:
We
step out in obedience
And
thus God’s purpose shall be learned.
We
thank You, Lord, that You make known
The
calling that You give by grace
Which
You confirm to all Your own
Who
diligently will seek Your face.
In
view, Lord, of eternity
And
precious souls who need You still,
We
pray You will abundantly
Confirm
our calling to fulfill.
