“I
will lift up mine eyes unto the hills…My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth” (Psalm 121:1,2). “What is
thy Beloved more than another
beloved?... My Beloved is… the
chiefest among ten thousand... Yea, He is
altogether lovely. This is my Beloved,
and this is my Friend” (Song of
Solomon 5:9-16). “Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us
to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savor of His knowledge by us in
every place” (2 Corinthians 2:14).
I
lift up my eyes to the forested hills;
I
breathe the sweet freshness of cool mountain air,
Yet
there is a sight and a savor that thrills
Far
greater than these, which can never compare.
The
vista of Jesus our Lord and our Savior,
The
One who made heaven and earth by His Word,
The
Helper of all who rely on His favor,
Is
greater that all we have seen and have heard.
Yes,
He’s the Beloved of all His redeemed,
Much
lovelier than everything that He makes,
For
who would have ever considered or dreamed
That
He would lay down His own life for our sakes!
How
strange is this world (that we are not of),
So
blind to the worth of our Savior and Lord
Who
came to our rescue with infinite love,
Providing
a ransom we couldn’t afford!
How
lovely indeed are the things of creation
And
wondrous the senses of hearing and sight,
Yet
as we’re beholding the Lord of salvation,
Spectacular
vistas are dim in His light!
Yes,
this is our Savior and this is our Friend;
The
Lord Jesus Christ is the fairest of all!
We’re
only beginning to now comprehend
How
deep is His love and how great was our fall!
Now
thanks be to God that He makes manifest
The
beauty of Christ by the knowledge He gives,
Displaying
His triumph, which we now attest,
Since
Jesus is risen, and in us He lives.
O
Lord, as we ponder Your wonderful grace,
We
see and we savor Your beauty still more.
Thus
filled with Your fragrance, we go to each place
To
show to the world the Christ we adore.
