Mutually Marveling

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!  It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; as the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore” (Psalm 133:1-3).  “The King's… favor is as dew upon the grass” (Proverbs 19:12).  “The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light… For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given… and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:2,6).  “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from Him that called you into the grace of Christ” (Galatians 1:6).

The key to Christian unity
Is found in marveling at Christ:
He is the High Priest that we see;
He is the Lamb, once sacrificed.

As dew descending from above
Upon Mount Hermon and Mount Zion,
He came to earth with saving love;
He’ll come again as Judah’s Lion.

In Christ our King we find our favor:
Apart from Him, we’d all be lost!
We’re knit together by the Savior,
And we should not forget the cost.

In darkness we were all undone
Until we marveled at His light:
Behold the Child!  See God’s Son
Who came to earth to fight our fight!

We hear His names:  He’s Wonderful,
The Counselor, The Mighty God,
Eternal Father to our soul,
The Prince of Peace whom we applaud!

How greatly all His names have proved
That He is worthy of our praise,
And we should marvel when we’re moved
To turn away from Him our gaze!

O Lord, our unity of mind
Does not depend on what we are,
But on the beauty that we find
In You, exceeding us by far!

Lord, thank you for Your matchless grace
That draws our hearts by more that duty:
The reason that we seek Your face
Is that we marvel at Your beauty!
