“The
LORD is righteous: He hath cut
asunder the cords of the wicked” (Psalm 129:4).
“The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the
wicked poureth out evil things” (Proverbs 15:28). “Woe unto them that draw iniquity with cords
of vanity, and sin as it were with a cart rope… Woe unto them that call evil
good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that
put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Woe unto them that are
wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!” (Isaiah 5:18-21). “The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through
God to the pulling down of strong holds; casting down imaginations, and every
high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into
captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” (2 Corinthians
10:4,5).
The
Lord who is righteous is cutting the cords
Of
all those exchanging the truth for a lie.
The
weapons He uses are not carnal swords,
But
words that are mighty on which we rely.
The
heart of the righteous will study His truth,
Exposing
what’s false by the answer he brings.
The
mouth of the wicked, deceiving our youth,
Would
draw them with cords, pouring out evil things.
Now
woe to the liars deceiving themselves
And
drawing in others with lies like a rope!
How
vain are the falsehoods in books on their shelves
Which
plunge them in darkness and cut off all hope!
Now
woe to the ones who will call evil good,
And
say good is evil, and darkness is light!
No
longer are bitter and sweet understood
By
those who profess they are wise in their sight!
Our
weapons, therefore, are not carnally made,
But
sharp as a two-edged sword in our hand.
The
sword of the Spirit that we have displayed
Is
mighty against all the lies we withstand.
We’re
pulling down strongholds, attacking the base
Of
falsehoods derived by Satanic deceit.
We
bring to obedience souls saved by grace
Who
thereby discover the Gospel is sweet!
Our
cords have been cut, Lord, and now we rejoice:
Our
bonds are now loosed! We are free to
obey!
How
sweet is the sound of the truth of Your voice
As
now, by Your Word, we declare what You say!
