Word vs. Waves

“The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves.  The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.  Thy testimonies are very sure… forever” (Psalm 93:3-5).  “Who hath bound the waters in a garment?... Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him” (Proverbs 30:4,5).

The floods have lifted up their voice,

The sea has lifted mighty waves

Against the Lord, yet we rejoice: 

Our God is greater and He saves!

The raging sea of opposition

Against the Lord is loud and clear,

Yet these secure their own perdition,

Unless by grace they learn to fear.

Your testimonies, Lord, are sure.

The noisy waves shall soon recede.

Your precious Word is very pure.

Our trust in You is all we need.
