“From
the end of the earth will I cry unto Thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead
me to the rock that is higher
than I” (Psalm 61:2). “He that trusteth
in his own heart is a fool” (Proverbs 28:26).
When
wearied by the upward climb,
When
circumstances overwhelm,
We
cry to God at such a time,
Who
leads us to a higher realm.
He
is the Rock to which we’re led,
Who
lifts us to a higher place
Than
sin and self to Him instead
And
from our weakness to His grace.
We
dare not trust our feeble heart
Or
run with strength that is our own.
From
our own wisdom we depart
And
cry to God, and God alone.
And
thus we’re lifted to the Rock,
That
situates us far above
The
noise of those who daily mock,
To
hear God’s voice of truth and love.
O
Lord, we’re learning day by day
To
bring to You our heart’s desire.
From
strength to strength You lead the way
To
lift us higher and still higher.
