Good Pleasure in God's People

"Boaz begat Obed, and Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat… David" (1 Chronicles 2:12-15).  "The works of the LORD are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein… the LORD is gracious and full of compassion… He sent redemption unto His people" (Psalm 111:2,4,9).  "We pray always for you, that our God would… fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness, and the work of faith with power:  that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in Him" (2 Thessalonians 1:11,12). 

As we review familiar names

In Chronicles that have their place,

We see the pleasure God proclaims

In people who portray His grace. 

The works of God are truly great

In which we find our highest pleasure

In Christ, who saw our lost estate

And has redeemed us as His treasure. 

How gracious is our Lord's compassion

Who sent redemption to us all! 

How great His love is that could fashion

A way to save us from the fall! 

By Your good pleasure in us, Lord,

God's people now proclaim the story

Of goodness that shall be explored

Through time and evermore in glory.
