The
love of God was surely sweet
When,
tenderly, He taught His own.
The people sat
down at His feet
As His
commandments were made known.
He was their
Refuge from all harms,
Like Daniel from
the lion's teeth,
Embraced in
everlasting arms
Which He assured
were underneath.
The hands of God
that make and fashion
Our souls have
proved He knows us best
Who teaches us
with great compassion
To come to Him
and find our rest.
O Lord our God,
our Tender Teacher,
We thank You for
Your saving grace
Declared on
earth to every creature
Whom You have
taught to seek Your face!
