Amazed Ambassadors

"A faithful ambassador is health" (Proverbs 13:17).  "The angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people… The shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us… And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this Child. And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds" (Luke 2:10-18).

Ambassadors should be amazed

At tidings of our Lord and Savior. 

Let Jesus Christ be greatly praised

By all who now proclaim His favor! 

Like shepherds sent to Bethlehem

By the angelic proclamation,

We ought to be amazed like them

As we announce so great salvation. 

When shepherds saw the Child born,

They made the tidings known abroad. 

Unmoved by human praise or scorn,

They preached the wondrous grace of God.

O Lord, we are amazed indeed

At grace this world still ignores

That satisfies our greatest need

And makes us Your ambassadors.
