"The LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered My servant Job… a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?" (Job 1:8). "The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD… Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with His hand… Mark the perfect man… for the end of that man is peace" (Psalm 37:23,24,37). "Peter remembered the word of Jesus… Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny Me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly" (Matthew 26:75).
We hear the
ancient conversation
Of God with our Satanic
foe
Concerning Job's
high commendation,
A perfect,
upright man below.
Though God said Job
was "perfect" then,
Perfection still
was underway,
For so it is
with sinful men
Until God takes
us home one day.
Our steps are
ordered by the Lord
Who knows how
prone we are to fall,
Yet by His mercy
we're restored,
And He perfects
us through it all.
The process of
perfecting Peter,
O Lord, was
bitter through denial,
Yet made his longing
all the sweeter
To live for Your
approving smile.
