"Let not him that is deceived trust in vanity: for vanity shall be his recompense" (Job 15:31). "Behold, Thou desirest truth in the inward parts" (Psalm 51:6). "Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts… The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead" (Proverbs 21:2,16). "Take heed lest any man deceive you… Heaven and earth shall pass away: but My words shall not pass away" (Mark 13:5,31).
How
troubling is deceit today
Which
shall betray the confidence
Of
all who thereby go astray
And
reap deception's recompense.
The
Lord desires truth within;
He
searches all our inward parts.
Deceit
inclines our heart to sin;
The
Word of God preserves our hearts.
Deceit
will cause our heart to wander,
So
Christ commands us to take heed.
Shall
not His Word cause us to ponder
And
follow where His truth will lead?
O
Lord, in dealing with deceit,
Your
words endure eternally.
How
perfectly You thereby meet
Our
need for truth that makes us free!
