"The king said unto me [Nehemiah], For what dost thou make request? So I prayed to the God of heaven" (Nehemiah 2:4). "LORD, who shall abide in Thy tabernacle?... He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart" (Psalm 15:1,2). "A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps" (Proverbs 16:9). "Jesus… saith unto them, Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men. And they straightway left their nets, and followed Him" (Matthew 4:18-20).
The
Lord beholds the man of prayer,
As
Nehemiah, quick to ask.
We
see a trait embodied there
That
qualified him for the task.
The Lord
commands us to abide
Within His path
of righteousness.
By this we shall
be qualified
As laborers whom
He will bless.
The heart of godly
men may plan,
Yet look to God
for His direction.
This qualifies
the faithful man
Who gladly welcomes
His correction.
O Lord, the path
is now in view
That qualifies
us for the quest:
Forsaking all,
we follow You,
And You will
surely do the rest!
